Madeline dreams of a better life. By day she cleans the homes of the rich and well-to-do, and at night studies so she can go back to school. But she just can't seem to get ahead. When she isn't keeping a careful watch, her husband Joe gambles her money away and her friend Vera undermines her at every turn. The only one she can talk to is Stanford, a medical student who encourages her to pursue her dreams, but even he doesn't have time for her. No one does.

Then one day a quirky accident gives Madeline gives an interesting opportunity. And for a brief moment she gets to live two different lives.

Which husband will she choose? Which career does she want? What's real and what isn't?
